Fast Forward

First week of August.

Yayyyyy....so I am finally done with NYSC, and I finished with two certificates.  Yes, you heard me right...Two!!!  One was obviously the standard one that everyone gets.  The second was a certificate for meritorious service and commitment. I definitely feel happy having two certificates until I pinch myself and think "Will having two certificates help my cause towards getting a job?" "Will having an NYSC certificate even be as important as they make it out to be?"  That debate still goes on but in my case, Only time will tell.

On the job hunting market now.  Unfortunately I was not born with a silver or golden spoon so I have to rely on the connections I have made since my return to Nigeria to get me through.  This has not been easy at all, to say the least, but I'll get here.

I have learnt that you do hVe to choose your 'connections' wisely though.  Not everybody that looks willing to help can actually help.  Sometimes, there help is not free (if you get what I mean).  I've had all sorts of invites ...people (of the opposite sex) inviting me over to different states with the promise that they will take me to the 'movers and shakers' of various industries.  The offer is to 'stay with them for a week or two', be chauffeured around, etc etc... It has been tempting to say the least.  The offer could obviously be very innocent but call me cynical ...anyway...the offer is still hot on the table as I type...till the end of the month, I guess. I will let you know if I took it up or not.

One thing I have found slightly annoying though is when people suddenly become 'experts' in advice giving.  Don't get me wrong, advice is good but sometimes, practical assistance actually helps more than advice.  To someone who keeps hearing the same advice over and over again from different people, it can get a little bit fraustrasting.

All in all, we are here now.  Let's 'hustle' as they say!!!
